Tennessee Trip 3: Horse Back Riding
We recently took an AmAzInG family trip to Tennessee. We visited the Gatlinburg area of Tennessee, which is 5 hours from our Georgia home. None of us had ever been there, so it was a great adventure for us. We discovered that it is a mecca for family vacations…there is sooo much to do there!
One of the activities we did while we were there was to go on an hour long horse ride together. I made the mistake of telling them that I had been thrown from the horse as a child and didn’t especially like horses now. So, they said they were giving me “Widow Maker,” but it was really the slowest, oldest, and most stubborn horse they had. It was still fun
. Megan’s horse kept trying to reach back and nip at her toes!

Tennessee Trip 4: Ziplines!!!
One of our FAVORITE activities was the ZIPLINE (next to the Alpine Slide)!!! We went to Adventure Park at 5 Oaks in Sevierville. They take you to the top of the hill in an ATV and then you ride 4 different ziplines from the top to the bottom (the advertisement says it is 5….hmph). Every single one of us enjoyed this activity. We would definitely do it again.

Tennessee Trip 5: Ober Gatlinburg (Alpine Slide)
We recently took an AmAzInG family trip to Tennessee. We visited the Gatlinburg area of Tennessee, which is 5 hours from our Georgia home. None of us had ever been there, so it was a great adventure for us. We discovered that it is a mecca for family vacations…there is sooo much to do there!
Visiting Ober Gatlinburg (ski resort) was another highlight on our trip. In the Springtime you can get a relatively inexpensive wristband that will allow you to take unlimited trips down the Alpine Slide! With the same wristband you can: ice skate, do a maze, ride a carousel, ride a mountain chairlift, etc. It was soooo much fun…especially the Alpine Slide. I have great memories as a child of riding the Alpine Slide at Purgatory Ski Resort in Colorado (now called Durango Mountain Resort). I went several years ago and wanted my kids to enjoy the same thing I did. It started to rain during our first trip down, however, and they shut it down the rest of the day. I have harbored that regret for years. So, this was so wonderful to have the ability to go over and over and over again.
The only problem we ran into was that I like to go REALLY FAST!!! I push that bar forward and never look back. There were guys in the middle telling me to “SLOW DOWN!” I don’t remember them having guys like that at Purgatory! One time Frank and I were racing and the kids were at the top of the hill waiting for their turn to go down after us. They heard the “slow down” guys radio up to the top telling them that “the guy in the hat and the lady in the red shirt wouldn’t slow down!” Lucky for us the guys at the top and at the bottom didn’t care…they both told us that. They said that if it was them they would be doing the same thing. It was sooo exhilirating!!!
Mikayla skated for about 2 hours while we were all doing the Alpine Slide…she couldn’t get enough of it!

Tennessee Trip 6: Gatlinburg, Tennessee
We recently took an AmAzInG family trip to Tennessee. We visited the Gatlinburg area of Tennessee, which is 5 hours from our Georgia home. None of us had ever been there, so it was a great adventure for us. We discovered that it is a mecca for family vacations…there is sooo much to do there!
We actually spent very little time in Gatlinburg proper…since our cabin was in Pigeon Forge. But we did get to spend a little bit of time there in the evening after we had spent the day at Ober Gatlinburg. We walked the quaint main street and had dinner before heading back to the cabin. It was like a tame Vegas for families…just the people watching and stuff…no gambling.

Our Mormon.org Profiles!!
Our Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) has asked it’s members to post personal profiles on the Internet to let people know more about our church and to help people understand more about us..through the words of it’s members. It took me a while to get it done…but I finally did it!! Frank got his done too. Here is what we have to say (click on the links below):

Ashley Turns 12
Ashley is growing up! She is almost done with her “Tween” years…we only have one year until she will be a TEENAGER! She recently turned 12 and will now get to go to Young Women instead of Primary. It is an exciting time for her.
Family Walk at Factory Shoals
We had some really nice weather in February of 2011. It was a little too nice…because the allergy season started about 4 weeks early. But overall it was a good thing and we were able to get out and enjoy nature a little bit after being inside all winter. This is a place near Covington, Georgia, called “Factory Shoals.” I think that is the Yellow River…but we never confirmed that. We took Sophie (our dog) with us and she L-O-V-E-D it!
Megan – National Honor Society Inductee
Megan was inducted into the Jr. National Honor Society back in Middle School when we lived in Vegas. But when we moved to Georgia our Middle School didn’t have Jr. NHS. So, Megan is a Sophomore now in high school and was finally inducted into the National Honor Society here. She is an amazing student and a walking encyclopedia. She is active on the Academic Team, the Beta Club, and the Rosetta Society. We are very proud of her.
4-Year Anniversary
I can’t believe we have only been married for 4 years…it seems like much longer…in a good way, of course
. It seems like we have always been a family. Things couldn’t be better and I still worship the ground that Frank walks on
.
To celebrate, we went out on the town in Atlanta. We found a place to eat that we had never been to: Mary Mac’s Tea Room. I guess it is quite well known…it has been there since 1945. You can see the history here. The food was REALLY good. I had some Fried Green Tomatoes – a favorite of mine since I moved to the South.
After dinner we saw a production of Peter Pan. This was a unique production, however. It was a theater-in-the-round…and there was a 360^ video screen that stretched around the room. When they were flying over London, they were held up by ropes, but as the video was playing it looked like they were truly zooming over the city and even THROUGH landmarks. It was really amazing. The video changed frequently to match the set.
