The Nolden Family

So, we were going to bed one night in January, when Liz called (on her cell phone – that’s our intercom system). She had just gone to sleep when a noise woke her up. She called to tell us that water was flowing down her wall. She was 2 stories below us. I walked out our bedroom door and immediately heard water gushing somewhere close by. It turned out that a tube leading up to the faucet in the boys’ bathroom had failed and water was already all over the floor in their room and obviously leaking down through the floors and walls. Further inspection showed us that water was flowing from the light fixtures and seams in the ceiling down into the kitchen and breakfast nook below…and then on down to the basement.

Luckily, we caught it relatively early. It couldn’t have been going on for more than an hour since we had gone to bed in that period of time. It could’ve been so much worse if Liz hadn’t caught it.

But there was definitely damage done. Below are some of the fun things we have gone through since then. We just recently got the bulk of it fixed…but still have to get the hardwood floors sanded down and stained.

This is after the water had stopped flowing. You can see the wet spots in the ceiling where it had been coming down. It also was flowing down the two light fixtures in the kitchen and breakfast nook.

The large unit is a dehumidifier and the smaller unit is a very NOISY fan. We had about 20 of these going for several days in our home to dry everything out. Luckily for us it was during the winter and the humidity levels were much lower than they would've been at other times of the year. It was sooooo NOISY!! It about drove us all crazy.

Ahhhh...even better than before (note the new light). It is amazing what can be done. We have an amazing contractor...let me know if you need his number!
