It may’ve only been 4 inches…but it was enough to shut down the Atlanta Metro area…closing businesses and schools for FIVE BUSINESS/SCHOOL Days!!

Of course the kids have been LOVING it…except for the oldest, who couldn’t care less about the snow and felt trapped being away from her friends.

We are grossly unprepared for Snow…so notice that our sleds were actually large, industrial strength cookie sheets…and they made a snowboard by taking the wheels off of one of their skateboards.

Above: I love this video because it gives you a great sense of what was going on in Atlanta and the surrounding area during the 2011 Ice Storm. We had a snow storm, followed by freezing rain…and then the temperatures didn’t climb above freezing for days upon days. It was nearly impossibly to travel the area for at least 3 fulls and then for days after that it was do-able to some degree…but certainly at the risk of your own safety.
