In order to get ready for Young Women Camp this summer, our young women had to have an overnight campout to pass off some of their requirements (like building a fire, cooking something outside, setting up a tent, etc). This is because when they get to camp they will be sleeping in air-conditioned cabins . Wimpy, I know! But my kind of camping!
Not all of the girls were able to attend, but I think those that did had a lot of fun. Check it out:
Setting up tents: Sister Mitchell (leader), Eileen, Megan & Janna.
Kissa, Megan & Eileen
Megan learning how to put up a tent...
They were so proud of themselves! Sister Joyner (leader), Tajheeta & Megan
Sister Shipp (right) taught the girls how to cook in a dutch oven: (LtoR: Mikayla, Kadison, Tajheeta, Katie, Megan, Melissa & Sister Shipp)
Janna modeling our lovely green tarp...
This was the "campsite." Ok...so it was the Pyne's backyard! You're pretty much in the forest wherever you go in Georgia...so you might as well have running water too, right? ;-) Don't they have a beautiful backyard?
Sister Mitchell enjoying her dinner....
Sister Kimble: "You did NOT just take a picture of me eating dinner." :-)
See if I let you do that again...
Kadison and Liz...don't you love Liz's boots?
Vikki taught the girls about cloud formations...
Mikayla, Janna, Kissa and Tajheeta...practicing the skit they will do at camp in July.
Liz is pretty comfy to sit on ;-).
Can you see the cutest little boy sitting at the corner of the house? He lives there and had been playing in the backyard...I looked up and saw him sitting at the corner of the house just clapping his hands over and over....he is sooo cute!
Kadison, what numerous hands and feet you have!
Young Women Campout 6/2010 – The Shipps taught the girls how to make “Dump Cake” in a dutch oven. It was YUMMY!
