Cross Country Trip…..to Georgia
We’re on our way….
Four days…almost 2000 miles….10 states….and 8 bladders later….we finally arrived in our new home state of Georgia!!
It actually went quite well…since we could spread the kids out in two cars (see our caravan below).
It was fun to see the desert give way to lush, green foilage. What a change! The moisture in the air became palpable.
Our adventure had begun….
Above: This is somewhere in New Mexico…can’t remember where. We had way too many Wal-Mart/potty break stops to keep track!
Above: Oh, yeah! We’re out of the car!
Above: That’s our caravan. Frank drove the truck the whole way, pulling the 30 foot trailer. I drove the Suburban (the “Burb”) pulling the four-wheeler trailer.
Above: We got to eat out a lot along the way (and after we got to Georgia before our house was ready). It was great at first…but after a while it got kind of old…even for me (because I loved not having to cook every night).
This was at a BBQ place in Jasper, Alabama, called Jim & Nicks (we call it Nick and Joes though – we got it confused at first, and can’t go back – it had something to do with the Jonas Brothers). It was sooo yummy! We were hoping it was a chain…and it was. Our waitress said there were only 4 of them in the state of Georgia though. Lucky for us…one of those four was in the town we were moving to!
Above: We were getting close!!! Yahoooo!!!
Above: This is what I saw for 2000 miles! The back of the trailer. And for half of the trip we saw nothing but green trees on either side of the freeway.
Above: Liz and I were waiting with the camera on to catch the “Welcome to Georgia” sign…but this is all we got of it.
Above: Oh, my, heck! We’re in the South!!
Above: Downtown Atlanta! Only 30 minutes to go (we live on the east side of the Atlanta metro area).
***It was a very long but exciting trip for the family as we drove toward the unknown and lots of new adventures.
